Dreams

After watching the film Casablanca in a neighborhood cinema I thought about the age of dreams. Who, in their youth, didn't dream of love, a leading man who'd bring you flowers, open the car door for you, pull out your chair, but at the same time respect the right to gender equality. We dreamed with every romantic film that let us, for an hour or more, be the heroine, we suffered the disappointment of the friend who married our best friend, we accompanied the woman who found love when she was already married and had children, when we came back from watching a romantic film, we kept flying with our imagination until on the street we bumped into someone passing by or our friend said something that brought us back to reality and we had to land.

That's how we dreamed in our youth, later we built our home, by then the flowers only come once in a while or for some celebration, you have to live reality. You find out that the movies' Prince Charming stays behind in the cinema. We women settle for a good husband, normal children, we're grateful to the movies that every so often pull us out of the routine and let us dream, for which I recommend a romantic lineup: THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY – CASABLANCA – THE SHAPE OF WATER – MOONSTRUCK – A STAR IS BORN – FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL – OUT OF AFRICA – SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR.

If you've already seen them I recommend watching them again. You'll see them with different eyes. The young women of today, more independent, laugh at these films, but surely if they can they watch them in secret, behind their proclaimed equality, they dream the same thing but in color.
