About Raquel

Raquel Kacman was born in 1929. She went through high school at the Colegio Nacional Nicolás Avellaneda, in the night shift, and in 1958 graduated as a dentist — a doctor of dental surgery; for years she practiced at the Children’s Dental Center of Mataderos. In 1978 she also earned a degree in psychology.
She took writing and art history courses at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas. Today she takes part in the UPAMI program «Storytelling Is a Pleasure», a space where those who want to write and share their own stories. And through the municipal program «From Elders to Youngsters», she goes to read stories to children at a school.
«These stories are born from my own experiences and emotions. They may not be perfect, because they are written with feelings, and feelings don’t follow rules. If reading them moves the reader the way writing them moved me, I will truly have achieved my purpose: to convey experiences and, at the same time, a message for the soul.»— Raquel
«This book is a journey, a path of stories reaching outward and a search reaching inward. The author, since her tender age of twelve — when she told stories to the younger children who followed her everywhere — and later as a pediatric dentist and as a psychologist, always created and gave away stories. Her narratives take us along the paths of emotion… Raquel opens a window onto her wisdom, written in stories.»

With gratitude to Lili Blanca for the prologue, to Felisa Markevich for the cover art, and to the companions of the «Storytelling Is a Pleasure» workshop.
