Police story

Juancito was 3 years old when his family moved to a building next door to a police station. He soon made friends with a young officer, who covered the entrance of the station. Every time he went out with his mom he'd let go of her hand and run to say hello to him.

It was a very special relationship that caught people's attention because of the affection, which was mutual, between the boy and the young officer. But one day as he went out and ran toward his friend… a car that appeared out of nowhere riddled the front of the station with bullets.

When they came to help them Juancito was underneath the body of his friend, who was gravely wounded, and who had shielded him with his own body. Luckily the bulletproof vest kept his main organs from being damaged but he still had serious wounds in his legs and arms. Juancito's mom was hit with a wound at hip height, if the little boy hadn't let go of her hand the bullet would have hit him at head height.

Today, 10 years after this dramatic event, the mom walks with difficulty, his friend still works on the police force and Juancito, now 13, dreams of being like his friend and finding the ones who did so much harm and left an unforgettable mark on his memory.

I hope that the dreams of all the Juancitos, that the wrongdoers be punished, come true.
