The Emoticons

Good afternoon, I'm a first-grade teacher. We're at the end of the school year, I already know my students and some of their problems.

That day I decide to use a game to teach, so as to spark more interest.

Today we're all going to sit on the floor in a big circle. Very good, I place in the center 2 boxes with various little pictures, copied from my phone... I explain to them: in turn, each one is going to choose one and is going to explain, that is, tell, why they chose it. Understood? Yeeess! Good, let's begin. Carlitos, what did you choose? "A pear, because I like it and mom says it's not the season and she won't buy it."

Kids, every fruit has a season, in winter we have lots of oranges, mandarins, grapefruits, it's the season or the time of what we call citrus fruits; in summer there are the fruits in season like peaches, plums, grapes. That's what your mom told you, at this time of year there are no pears except canned ones.

Marcela, what did you choose? "2 hands clapping because I like it when I do something well and people clap for me."

Rita: I chose a crying face because my mom scolded me, it was my little sister's fault, but she's always right and it's not that way.

Juancito: "I chose an airplane because I want to be a pilot." So you already know what you want to be. "My uncle is a pilot and he always tells me wonderful stories."

Elsita: I chose the glasses because soon it's going to be my birthday and I want a nice party.

Teresita chose a heart, hugged it and started to cry, everyone fell silent. When I came closer I stroked her head, she hugged me and said to me: "it's my mom's heart, she's sick, and I'm taking it to cure her."

They went on like that, until each one had their emoticon.

I already knew Teresita's story, but it moved me all the same. I tried to lift everyone's spirits. Well, now it's my turn, I choose the clapping hands because everyone did very well.

Just as each of you chose 1 picture, these are the emoticons you see on your phone when you get a message, whoever sends a message chooses just like you did, and now let's play with the ones left in the boxes. It was a terrible uproar. The bell saved me, end of class.
