What I like

She got up, thought how late it is, it's seven, it seems those allergy pills put me to sleep. She always gets up at six. She put on her robe and flew to the kitchen; heated the water, made the mate and went back to bed. What a pleasure it is to drink mate in bed listening to the radio.

It's the moment of enjoyment in the day. She thought: «Since when have I kept up this ritual?» The day she couldn't do it for some reason beyond her control, she felt bad, something was missing. Facing the question, since when did she practice it? she started thinking, since she was a student, no, before that, in her teenage years, no, before that.

She remembered when she was 8 or 10, her mother had to go to work and at 6 in the morning the alarm clock would ring and she would wake up too, and there her mother would make the mate and come sit at the edge of the bed, the two of them would talk and it was a moment of joy, of shared confidences. Later, when her mother stopped working, it was she who had to get up early to go to work, but the ritual continued, her mother would wake her with the mate while she got dressed to go out. The ritual held even on Sundays, when the talks went on longer and the two of us were in bed. Everything went on the same…

When she was left alone, the radio became the friendly voice that kept her company.

How many things a question can wake up, when it touches the strings of memory and the music floods the soul.
