Happiness

This story begins on a Saturday, finally, the mother thinks, we can all have lunch together as a family. The kids go out to play and the couple starts tidying things up, they're looking forward to a good weekend. After the kids have dinner, they go to sleep early, they're used to it because they get up early for school.
The couple settles onto a sofa with a glass of wine to watch a movie, little by little they draw closer, their hands intertwine and they think how nice it is to be together, to feel the touch and the closeness of the other. The movie ends and they go to the bedroom like in the first days of their marriage, they make love, and drift into a peaceful sleep and remark how they look forward to the weekend to enjoy it.
In the morning, Sunday, some noises in the kitchen wake them, she says it's the kids, but she doesn't finish the sentence and there's a little knock on the door asking permission to come in. The older one brings a tray with 2 cups of café con leche, the younger one a tray with facturas: «since you were sleeping we decided to surprise you and went out to buy some». Once up, they decide to go have lunch out, to Palermo so the kids can run around freely and they can sit hugging and sunbathe, the end of a wonderful week.
Today, a Sunday in August, in the pandemic, the children already married, the couple hugging in front of the balcony to catch the sun, remember those weekends and are glad they can still enjoy these weekends together.
