The letter

I don't know you, I imagine you dark-haired, or maybe blond, tall or short, I only think of your eyes full of tears, I found your letter and curiosity led me to pick it up, and seeing it was addressed to the sky I started to read it.
«They say men don't cry, if that were so they wouldn't be human, that's not true. I write to you crying, I need to reach you my love, this loneliness is killing me, the kids miss you». There follows an illegible part, I don't know if it got stained by tears or if someone stepped on it where it was lying on the floor.
Further on, it says «I remember crying at 7 years old when my parents found out about the concentration camps, the gas chambers, the crematoriums, and both of them sat down and cried inconsolably, and without understanding I cried with them, it hurt me to see them cry for the first time. Now I know they were crying for their loved ones, parents, siblings, uncles…. The way I cry now because you're not here». Other stretches were blurred, from which I recovered loose words «wedding, first child, first grade, a tooth» and further on «complete happiness and I also cried from happiness. Today I cry from this loneliness and the pain of not having you. I write to you, because this way you're beside me and I dream of you, and I relive the happy moments. I hope some angel who can reach the sky delivers this letter to you. With all my love, thank you for the happy hours, for our children and the deep pain I feel for your passing that makes me more human and I cry for us. Signed your José».
José, I don't know you, your letter that I found one day on the street and that was addressed to the sky, has already reached you through your tears. I hope you enjoy your children, if it's possible that you rebuild your life if you're still young, or not so young. If you believe there's another life you'll find it, for now try to live this one.
Signed, the person who found your letter.
