Love versus barbarism

Three months ago a baby girl was born at 24 weeks' gestation, she weighed 450 grams, had she been born in the last century she would have been considered a spontaneous miscarriage with no chance of life. Luckily things have changed nowadays. There are more tools to fight with. For three months the mother remained hospitalized alongside her daughter, the whole neonatology team, doctors, nurses, lab technicians, put their science and love into saving this life.
So today, three months after birth, weighing 2,500 grams, which would be a normal weight for a full-term baby, she was discharged, able to go home with her mother to the place where she will live. She now feeds normally at the breast, and the doctors assure that she will have no lasting effects.
This made me think, so many people mobilized with love to save one life, while somewhere else, a handful of fanatics kill entire populations over religious differences or for not thinking as they do. Which do we keep, love or barbarism?
