Love without words

We all talk about love, a mother's love, love for children, for a partner, friends, teachers, well, the list is long.

I'm going to tell a story I don't remember where I heard or read, it has to do with the love of pets, some might say it's loyalty, habit, it could be many things, to me it's love that can't be expressed in words.

There was an elderly man who had a dog, it was his companion, it went with him everywhere. They were inseparable, and when this man had to undergo dialysis treatment twice a week, Yony, his dog, waited for him outside the hospital so they could go home together.

But one day Juan, the owner, fell ill at the hospital and was admitted, Yony waited for him, and three days later Juan passed away. But the dog kept waiting, the staff gave him food and water but the dog wouldn't move from the entrance, he kept waiting.

Several neighbors tried to adopt him but he wouldn't move from the door, and so 12 years went by, people brought him food, but through cold and rain, he kept waiting for his friend. Old now and half blind, he tried to cross the avenue and a truck put an end to his wait.

They say the street where Yony waited for his friend now bears his name. This is a tribute to love without words.
